How challenging was this project for you? |
what did you enjoy most about this cultural connections projectI really enjoyed learning about the Latin-American culture and their traditions to celebrate death. Honestly, the best part was understanding some of the mythology they have/had and attempting to adopt their perspectives and see the reasoning behind everything. An example of this would be learning that each element of the altar has a valuable meaning and purpose. The food would be set there to be eaten by the dead when they would return to the human world.

This project was not an incredibly challenging endeavor. The work was straightforward and had ways to achieve our goals through the will to do so. I enjoyed this project because it relied more on motivating yourself to do the work and finish it with high quality standards rather than being confusing and immensely difficult. I feel like the lesson we took away from this project is more on being determined to produce a good final product. I also thought the cultural connections was neat and how it tied in to creating an exhibit worthy project.
did you get critique? was it helpful? |
if you could change something about this project what would it be? |
I got a lot of critique from my peers. A lot of their critique was helpful and informative. I was shown different ways to do things on my altar to make it appear nicer such as techniques to design decorative elements like flowers and paper ribbons. A lot of the help I received translated into a better final product.

Nothing really. I enjoyed this project a lot. Designing a fun creation was one of the best parts and I liked that there was a good reason behind everything. We learned a lot about Latin American traditions as well as having fun while doing so.

what grade do you think you deserve? why?
I think I deserve an A because my final product has fit the criteria that was required; at least to my knowledge. My shoe box altar I will say, could have been better if I had dedicated a little more time to working on it. Still, I think that it is perfectly acceptable. In regards to class time for working on our altars, I didn't do anything that would have distracted the class for a significant portion of time and I was fairly motivated to get as much work done in the classroom as I could with the time allotted.
